Where do your yarns come from?
I mainly use Shetland wool from Jamieson's of Shetland in Shetland. I also use yarns from other Scottish islands including Uist Wool and Iona Wool. For special feature bags, I use yarns from indie dyers such as Ginger Twist Studio in Edinburgh, Ripples Crafts Yarn in Assynt, or Third Vault Yarns in London. Occasionally, I also make one-off purchases when travelling, e.g. Portuguese wools from Burel Mountain Originals. All yarns are non-superwash and do not contain any nylon.
Where do your lining fabrics come from?
I mainly use linen and cotton fabrics from Scottish Linen which have been purchased direct from the Peter Greig mill in Kirkcaldy, Fife. I occasionally use fabrics from other sources such as Fabric Focus in Edinburgh, or upcycled materials from the Borders Scrapstore in Musselburgh.
Where else can I buy your bags?
I attend knitting events, yarn festivals, and Scottish design fairs.
Bags are also available at these shops:
- Ginger Twist Studio on London Road, Edinburgh;
- City Art Centre, Market Street, Edinburgh; and
- Storkurinn in Reykjavik, Iceland.
