Mercury 13 - Small Project Bag with Handle (Moon)
Small Project Bag. Width of these bags is generally approx. 22cm at the widest point, depth is approx. 7cm and height is approx. 14cm.
Design is Mercury 13. Inspired by the privately-sponsored programme to assess and train women pilots to become astronauts in the 1960s. The Moon, in the correct phase when Apollo 11 landed, forms the centrepiece of this bag design. A donation of 10% will be made from the sale of the bags in this collection to the STEM charity, Code to Inspire.
Outer fabric has been machine knit using Shetland wool from Jamison’s of Shetland. The fabric has then been washed using Ecover "Delicate Laundry Liquid" to remove the machine oil. Natural coloured lining & handle fabric from Scottish Linen, Kirkcaldy, Fife. Reverse side of the bag is made from Harris Tweed woven on the Isle of Harris by Rebecca Hutton of Taobh Tuath Tweeds. For care instructions, please refer to label on bag.
All photographs are unedited. For further information on yarn colours, please refer to Jamieson’s of Shetland website, at www.jamiesonsofshetland.co.uk/
Please note that the photos are for illustrative purposes, though the bags are very similar and have an identical lining fabric.
